Playing Tight Aggressive Poker Online

by Casino Blog on Jul.27, 2009, under Lottery, News, Poker

Online poker is fast becoming a favorite pastime for people of all ages. It is a fun and exciting way to make some money and with a plethora of sites offering free poker, it’s become easy to learn it before playing real money games. However, when playing real poker, there are certain styles of play that can maximize your winnings in online tournament. Below, we will examine the most effective style of play, and how you can use it to your advantage at the table.

The most effective style of play in any online poker tournament, is tight aggressive. A tight player is very selective which hole cards he begins a hand with. By sticking to a very select few hands, a tight player minimizes his chance of losing. A tight player does not play Ace-rag unless he’s in the blind, and even then, a tight player knows how far he is willing to go with those cards. A tight player folds two or three times more than anyone else at the table, and some people just are not patient enough to employ this strategy. Playing in this manner, will pay off in the long run, because you won’t be losing small amounts of money on cards that have little chance of winning. So, being a tight player, be prepared to fold, a lot. Be patient, it will be worth it. It is important to note, that the key to this strategy, is the word aggressive. A tight but passive player, will only fold a lot, only to take down very small pots, simply because the passive style of play, does not get the money into the pot. In a no-limit poker tournament, it makes other players very uncomfortable to play with an aggressive player that puts them to a decision for all their chips.

Aggressive does not mean playing with reckless abandon, it means playing the best hands you have in the way that maximizes your winnings. You want another player to be worried about you, and if he’s paying any attention at all, he will take notice when someone (like you, a tight player) who hasn’t played 5 hands all night, raises his bet. Players tend to be more aggressive online, than in a brick and mortar casino game, so by playing tight, you will have the cards to take all of his chips, putting you that much closer to the final table, and the money.

Crown Casino Gets Sued by Australian Gambler for his $909 Million Lost

by Casino Blog on Dec.14, 2008, under News

An Australian gambler, Harry Kakavas is suing Crown Casino in Melbourne for A$50 million damages after a mammoth 14-month baccarat binge in which he lost A$37 million.

He claimed to be targeted by Crown managers despite his known gambling addiction. He was barred from entering any casino in Australia in 2007.

Court provided the proof of emails detailing a Crown plan to lure back Kakavas after the managers found out he lost millions of dollars gambling in Las Vegas before this.

Crown Chief Executive Rowen Craigie and Chief Operating Officer John Williams is facing accusations of unconscionable conduct while in charge of Crown, which this month reported revenue from table games and gaming machines up 4 percent as Packer looks to expand in Macau.

If found guilty, Crown could be judged to have breached Australia’s Trade Practices Act, state gambling regulations and special laws covering the high-profile casino’s operation.

'Reversal of Fortune' Finally Launched

by Casino Blog on Dec.07, 2008, under News

JPM Interactive has finally launched a brand new online SWP (skill with prizes) game inspired by the new TV game Reversal of Fortune, to their network of gambling site, Bet365.com.

The program Reversal of Fortune is hosted by popular U.K. TV presenter Eamonn Holmes and it has a unique style of game play that offers a surreal experience for players. Anyone who has tried reading something in a mirror will have a good idea of how tough this game can be.

In the looking-glass world of the game, answers to questions are shown back-to-front, and the skill features — “Pair ‘Em Up”, “Reflections” and “Picture Puzzle” — all require an ability to see things in reverse.

After selecting a stake between £1 and £5, the player is shown special footage shot with Eamonn Holmes introducing the game with an explanation of what to expect. This is followed by a game grid with 25 squares, behind which are a series of options or awards.

There are questions and skill puzzles that award points to move up the points ladder earning prizes along the way with up to £50 on a maximum bet. In addition there are a number of other symbols or awards. If a player collects four clovers, he or she then wins the online jackpot, or can receive extra chances in case of a wrong answer with a “Try Again” icon. Other icons such as Mirror, Reveal, and Pass give further help to players in answering the more difficult questions. Some icons allow the player to still win points while others give no points but save the player losing altogether.

There are no safety points if a player continues playing after achieving a prize level and subsequently loses. At each win point they are offered the option to collect or continue. Awards are regular to ensure players do not feel there is no point in carrying on but questions get harder as they advance.

The only guaranteed prize is the Live Jackpot, and if this is achieved it is awarded whether the player wins or loses in the main game.

Each individual question or puzzle is timed and, unless a player uses one of the bonuses to solve or pass the puzzle, he or she must complete the task in the time allocated or the game will end when the time runs out.

A new grid is generated and the game ends only when the maximum prize is reached once all 25 squares have been used, the player loses from not answering a question correctly or takes a prize offered without continuing the game.
